Make Vanilla Cakes With Me

Hello lovelies!
With it coming near to Christmas I wanted to do a recipe on my blog today. Christmas, if anything, means only one thing; cakes! I love having a treat at this time of year and today I'm sharing a recipe with you all.
Now like anyone, December is a busy month for me so I've cheated a little and I'm following the cake box recipe, instead of baking from scratch. However, it's still a fun post that hopefully you'll enjoy with me.

What You Need
45ml vegetable oil
50ml water
2 medium eggs
Bowl
Spoon
Regular size muffin tray
For The Icing:
60g soft butter
10ml water
What You Do
Step One - Place the eggs, oil and water into your mixing bowl, gently mix together for 2-3 minutes until your product is smooth and creamy.
Step Two - Now you can pour the mixture into each of the cupcake cases.

Step Three - Pop in the centre of the oven for between 15-17 minutes, then pop a skewer in the middle of your cakes to see if it's clean.
Step Four - Whisk the icing and softened butter together until blended (you can add upto 10ml of water if needed).

Step Five - Spread your icing on the cooled cupcakes then sprinkle with chocolate flakes.

Step Six - Enjoy!
Even though technically I cheated on this recipe, I still had fun making the cakes and eating them! You can find the cake box in Asda with lots of different flavours from 'love Betty' range. The vanilla one in my post was £2.25 and you get the mix, icing sugar, sprinkles and the cake cases.

Personally I think this is a perfect deal for busy people who fancy a quick yet fun recipe. I always use the package cake mix as it's so much simpler to bake!

Have you ever tried something from the 'love Betty' range?

  1. You can never go wrong with a classic vanilla cupcake! I feel like making cupcakes is extra special when you take the time to make your own frosting too. These look yummy! Who cares if you used a box? A cupcake is a cupcake 😉
