Why I Love Make-Up

Hello lovelies
Instead of a review, first impressions or tips and tricks today I wanted to tell you why I love make-up. Many people, in fact far too many people have the thought process of 'women only wear make-up for men' or 'women only wear make-up because they're ugly without it', and after seeing some comments on Facebook last week I decided to make this post.
To explain breifly, a photo of a fifteen year old was shared on my timeline, she was a beauty vlogger and her make-up was flawless, however instead of comments saying how 'on point' (as the kids say nowadays) her highlight and contour was, it was comments from both men and women saying things such as 'she could get me in trouble on a night out'.. Why? Why does it have to be about sex and her doing it for attention? Why can't women just wear make-up because they want to? Below are the reasons why I love make-up.

I feel more confident with make-up, I feel like I have a mask on and no one can see the real me, the one I class as the plain, boring girl, but then when I have full make-up on I can put on my fun, confident face that people expect from me. However, even though I've said it helps my confidence, do not be confused, I don't mean I feel more confident for men or because I feel I'll get more attention of them, I just happen to feel better about myself, even with friends and family.

I'm a very shy person and I never feel comfortable with my face, make-up or not, though when I do have my face made up I can at least think to myself I have something going for me and gives people a reason to be looking at me, rather then assuming they're just looking at me because of my disability. Make-up helps bring my personality out and I can feel a lot more happier when meeting new people, it's my safety net!

Another reason why I love make-up is it's so fun, I absolutely love getting it put on for me and seeing the finished product. It's a way of getting creative and showing your inner self on the outside, you can alternate it with your mood as in if you're feeling really cheerful and bright you can match your eyeshadow and lipstick to show how you're feeling, though if you're having a more mature feeling you can create a look to go hand in hand with that too.

To me make-up is a way of building a different story and person who's extraordinary from day to day as like everyone who wears make-up will know, no make-up will ever be identical, it's molded to your face and therefore will always be unique to your face. Like some people who love having really beautiful and bold hair and convey their personality and look though striking hair colours, I simply express myself through my face and make-up, being dramatic and daring in that sense too!

My final reason on this post is simply fashion. Clothing is fashion, beauty is fashion, make-up itself is fashion. I'm a true believer in you can wear a bin bag and still strut your stuff as long as you have your make-up game strong, though I also trust that you could be in the most stunning dress but if the make-up isn't on I'm not fully dressed. I know lots of women are naturally gorgeous however I still feel make-up emphasis their natural features and can make them pop!

I think in today's world women don't feel complete if they don't wear make-up, as it's become so popular in the culture of today I personally feel a face completes an outfit these days and I view it as a whole. I love an exciting feel that make-up creates, from following trends of others such as celebrities to being the trend setter and doing your own thing, it catches eyes and is part of your whole outfit.

I could go on and on forever about all the reasons why I love and continue to wear make-up, it's just my passion. I thought it was important to address this topic and help people understand why we do wear make-up or 'paint our faces' if you rather.

I hope you enjoyed this beauty related post, why do you love make-up?

  4. I love this, it's so true - I could care less what I look like in make up, I just like wearing it for me. I only ever wear eye make up and sometimes lipstick, but lately I've been experimenting with new eye shadows and it's just so fun!

  5. I feel it's horrible that young girls and women are always judged in this generation why can't we just do what we want. Pixie xx www.pixieox.co

  6. I think it's SO true! People shouldn't tear women down for wearing flawless make up and I certainly don't like it when people use it to justify why they would get in trouble on a night out. My reasons are broadly the same, I love it because it feels like I get to hide boring me. I also agree that make up is fashion too! 💕 Lovely post! X

  8. This is so amazing! I have been going back and forth about doing a post like this. It's so messed up that women can't just wear makeup because THEY WANT TO, everyone always has to find another reason! Makeup is just plain fun and empowering. You hit the nail on the head with this post!
