Growing A Twitter Account

Hello lovelies,
Just before I went on holiday I hit a milestone on my Twitter account by reaching a thousand followers, for anyone this is a large amount however the best thing for me was two weeks before that I had been stuck at three hundred followers for around six weeks, and seeing the same number was starting to really frustrate me! I wanted to spread the word of how I managed to gain seven hundred followers and hopefully help others achieve too.
As any blogger knows more Twitter followers means more chance of new readers seeing your blog, more interaction and more views! Now, even if you're like me and blog for a hobby and fun, knowing people are reading and enjoying your blog definitely gives you a little kick and a 'happy' feeling! I love the feeling that someone takes time out of their day to pay me attention and engaged with how my life is.

For me Twitter is my main source where my readers find my blog, so even though I have lots more followers on Instagram, no one takes the time to have a peek at my blog. I had been neglecting my Twitter for the first few months, just letting my followers wander up and down but not really changing. I decided to pay more attention to my Twitter lately and put some tender love and care into it in hopes of gaining people's interest.

Some may not like the method I used to build my following and that's perfectly okay, however the way I'm going to share with you is how I have gained on all my social media and one that is proven to work for me. There are alternative ways to gain but after testing the more 'loyal' ways such as waiting for people to follow you I can assure you this is the most rapid and effective way to get them numbers going high!

I'm going to split it into three sections-

Section A-Building Your Twitter Interaction.
Promoting: it's so important to promote your blog posts, you're followers need to know what to expect from you and what you are in general. If you don't promote your posts they won't know you're a blogger and also you could be losing out on views. Promoting your blog should be on the same level of importance as writing your posts. Now, there is a such thing as over doing it and becoming a spammer which could turn potential followers off; this is why I schedule my promotional tweets for every hour and a half. I find every ninety minutes is the perfect amount of time as it's not spamming however new followers can find a link easily without having to scroll down your tweets for too long.

Twitter Chats: the best way to engage with likeminded people and gain a few followers is by joining Twitter chats. You can learn more about other bloggers, gain friends and share things about yourself too! Join in with chats that suit you best, the more you get involved the more interesting you are. If you make friends with new people who share similar interests hopefully they will share the love and some of your links too. Another reason I love participating in chats is it adds personality to your tweets and you can show old and new followers you're interesting and worth following!

#FF: a great way to give something to others and support the people who back you is taking part in FollowFriday or FF. Every Friday you can nominate a few people who stand out, either your top interactors, bloggers you are loving or new followers and you encourage others to follow these people. It shows you appreciate when people follow, interact or simply just make your day even better. This may also encourage others to give you a FF and get your name out into the wider world.

Section B-Working to Achieving.
Set Goals: if you don't have a goal, you're less likely to increase your followers. If you're just plodding along not minding how many followers you have you won't be putting your heart into widening your audience, you won't suddenly find people are following you. You need a set target in a set length of time. I.E I wanted seven hundred more followers so I could reach 1K and I wanted it before I went on holiday. Once you've set your goals the more you'll want to achieve them and each day you'll explore different ways to get you closer to your bigger dreams.

Find Inspiration: do you have a certain blogger you aspire to be like? Maybe there's a newbie blogger and they're doing well on their Twitter? It may sound like competition, it's not! Everyone has somebody they think a lot of and they aspire to be like them in a social aspect. If you have a person you aspire to be like, have a peek at their followers and aim to have the same amount. Use the same technique as I mentioned in 'Set Goals' by putting all your effort into reaching the same number your inspiration has.

Section C-Reaching Out.
Finding Followers: Follow people in your circle that you know will follow you back. If you're a blogger, check out another bloggers following and follow the people following them, chances are if they're following a blogger they are either a blogger themselves or enjoy reading blogs. This way they may notice  you have a blog and want to give it a look. One down side to this is you will have to unfollow the people who don't return your follow if you're not wanting to have a too full a feed, however I just use the Unfollow app which is quick and easy.

Only use this method in your certain section and circles. The reason for only using this with certain people is you may find you indeed have lots of new followers but you still won't have much blog engagements. People who may not be interested in your blog and not be in your target audience may still follow you back however they are most probably just following so you don't unfollow them. They soon will become inactive ghost followers who won't bring anything to your Twitter or blog.

There are many different ways you could build a following on Twitter, I'm sure if you have a search you could find the ideal way for you if this doesn't suit your taste. I was asked to make this post on the way I got seven hundred followers in three weeks so I hope this helps somebody!

Leave me some comments about how you grew your social following.
